Welcome to The Art of War: Animated Battle
Maps! This site recreates great military
battles using PowerPoint in a clear and exciting
way. The maps are designed so that anyone can
understand tactical and strategic concepts
no matter their knowledge of warfare.

December 31st - Added new battle animation today; Siege of Alesia is now available for viewing! Select this battle on The Battles menu to view. This will be the last battle animation released through this location.
December 30th - The Art of Battle: Animated Battle Maps will be moving in the new year! The site will have a fresh new look at History Net but with all the same great content and more. It will be located at www.theartofbattle.com which appears as under construction at the moment.
December 25th - Announced Season IV battle animations today; Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays wherever you are!
December 20th - Added new battle animation today; Battle of the Trebia is now available for viewing! Select this battle on The Battles menu to view. Season IV will be announced on Christmas Day. Also instituted a new poll which I encourage everyone to respond to.
December 13th - Decided upon which commanders will be spotlighted based on your feedback. Napoleon, Alexander and Hannibal will be spotlighted first, their third battles appearing in Season V. Khalid, Belisarius and Subedei will be spotlighted second, their third battles appearing in Season VI.
December 12th - Added new battle animation today; Battle of Dresden is now available for viewing! Select this battle on The Battles menu to view.
December 8th - Added new battle animation today; Battle of Ad Decimum is now available for viewing! Select this battle on The Battles menu to view.
December 1st - Added new battle animation today; Battle of Kohima-Imphal is now available for viewing! Select this battle on The Battles menu to view.
November 23rd - Added new battle animation today; Battle of Warsaw is now available for viewing! Select this battle on The Battles menu to view. Also replaced Thermopylae with the Trebia for Season III to accomodate the popular demand for Hannibal's battles. Thermopylae will be featured in Season IV which is nearly set now.
November 17th - Altered Season III battle list by replacing two with better ones.
November 14th - Added new battle animation today; Battle of Yarmuk is now available for viewing! Select this battle on The Battles menu to view.
November 1st - Added new battle animation today; Battle of Mexico City is now available for viewing! Select this battle on The Battles menu to view.
October 17th - Added new battle animation today; Battle of Leuctra is now available for viewing! Select this battle on The Battles menu to view.
October 15th - Posted all upgraded battle animations; check them out on The Battles menu. Don't worry, entirely new animations are on their way.
October 3rd - Posted new About This Site powerpoint that displays upgrades on previous battle animations and to be followed in the future. Upgraded battle animations will be released in the next week along with an entirely new one!
September 25th - No new battle animation this weekend because I will upgrading and then re-releasing previous battles while renovating the entire site. Both the battle animations and site will be improved.
September 23rd - Announced the rest of the battle animations planned for Season III as well an additional battle map for Season I. The Battle of Leuctra is my original test map for the site and will now be upgraded to a full battle animation.
September 15th - Announced half of the planned battle animations for Season III; check them out on The Battles menu. Season III will feature some interesting, more well-known battles.
